Fort Robinson Vacation!

Well, we hit the road about 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.  It was Mike, myself, Rev, 2 yr old Max, Apple, and Dora.  We rolled into Fort Robinson at about 5:30 p.m.  It was a long drive and we were happy to be there.  Fort Robinson is a beautiful historic place.  I highly recommend it. As we were unloading horses, I put Dora in the back of the truck as she was getting a little stir crazy...  She could hardly contain her excitement!  Finally, after a year, she was back in dog heaven...  so many grasshoppers to chase and only 5 days!
let me out of here!!
Here are some pictures of the main lodge.  It is a beautiful structure that used to be military housing.
The quote over the main entrance is "Through these portals passes the world's finest horsemen."  They weren't referring to me when they hung this quote.  :-)  All the cavalry pictures inside this building are so interesting!  Such a rich history!
Mess hall....  Fantastic food!!
So we got the horses unloaded in the stable and all checked into the lodge, we headed to our campsite which was about 1/2 a mile away from the lodge...
This is our campsite looking southwest
Looking north
This is the view north of the campsite...  This shows the buttes that you are able to climb and ride through.The night we arrived, it clouded up shortly before dusk and rained just south of us.  This picture is looking from my campsite southeast towards the horse barns and the rodeo arena...  It was such a beautiful rainbow!  You could even see purple!....  Yes, it was purpely....  :-)  Is purpely a word??

I have so many pictures to share, there's more to come on the Fort Robinson vacation!!  :-)

  1. After seeing those pictures, you’ve definitely proven your point that this place is indeed great! The campsite looks very big, which is a perfect place for campers. Also, I love the photograph with a rainbow at the end of your blogpost. That may be a sign that you need to comeback there next time. :)

    Regards,
    Darren
