Lucy's new home

The day finally came for Lucy to go home to her new family the Gulick's!  I've been so impressed with the Gulick family.  I knew once I met them that they were who Lucy was meant to be with.  Such wonderful girls and wonderful parents!
I must admit, my feelings about Lucy going to the Gulick family are a touch selfish.  I remember when my parents bought me my first horse...  She was a foundation appaloosa named Lady.  She was an awesome horse...  The best memories of my childhood were with that horse...  I'm so thankful my parents allowed me all of those memories...  In a way, I feel like I'm giving the Gulick family wonderful memories that will stay with them for a lifetime too.  It means a lot to me to get those girls started down the path that I love so much myself.  And I feel good about Lucy going to this family.  It is a relief for me knowing she will be so well taken care of.
My old Polly is adjusting with Lucy gone.  I'm determined Polly is going to enjoy her last fall.  Polly is completely blind in one eye, and continues to struggle with arthritis.  But as of tonight, she's doing okay.  She's going to eat like a queen this fall and she's going to get brushed every single night...  :-)  She's my old girl...  My last horse...  Somehow it's fitting that's my last horse is a tough as nails old appaloosa mare...  Ending at the beginning....
